We want people to have the opportunity and encouragement to grow more like Jesus in their daily life.  Gathering to worship God each week is a significant step but many have found that they need more if they are to truly root their lives in the life of Jesus.

Christchurch people have found that faith deepens when we actively reach out to others with the good news of God.  In recent times Christchurch has also come to recognise the significance of giving time for personally expressing our love to God in ways that are not limited by demonstrating love for others.  As a community we are currently exploring the place and meaning of spiritual discipline.  Taking inspiration from Richard Foster’s book, Celebration of Discipline, we are exploring meditation, prayer, fasting, study, simplicity, submission, service, confession, worship, guidance and celebration.

To encourage a deeper love for God in Jesus Christchurch continues to develop five particular areas of ministry:

• Podcasting sermons from most of Sunday services.  The 10:45am service are also recorded on CD and available for loan from the Christchurch Resource Library.
• Resource Library which is well equipped with an expanding selection of books, CDs and DVDs available for personal and group use.
• Small groups.  Our exprerience is that it is in these small communities that people are enabled most to grow more like Jesus.  Over 125 Christchurch people are part of a small group exploring together what it means for them to love God, love each other and love the world.   The minister is available to help people choose the group that is right for them.
• Whole Bible in a whole year.  Starting from September 2010 over 70 Christchurch people have committed themselves.
• Themed services that integrate with outreach activities and house group programmes.  For example, in preparation for Easter we have a March theme called ‘Growing More Like Jesus’.

Being spiritual, of course, doesn’t exclude being physical.  Equipped with a large hall Christchurch has different activities for exercise or just for fun.  Drop by to find out how being part of the Christchurch community could enable you to grow.
